The Butchers

Whether it's Round Green Farm Venison, Yummy Yorkshire ice-cream or game from the Hepworth shoot, everything at The Butchers Arms – down to the pickles, chutneys and balsamic reduction – is local: with a capital L!

As the Butcher's Arms in Hepworth prepares to celebrate the fifth anniversary of its revival by top Yorkshire chef Tim Bilton, it's the perfect time for the pub's hard working team to give themselves a pat on the back for all they've achieved over the last five years.

When Tim took over the pub in 2008 it was a failing business; taking the bull by the hornes, Tim has now turned The Butchers Arms into one of Yorkshire's most popular gastropubs, as discerning diners come from far and wide to sample his modern British cuisine with a twist. Tim's apperances on two series of BBC TV's Great British Menu have also gone a long way to spreading the word about his fantastic cooking.

However, Tim was determined that The Butchers Arms should not just be a great restaurant, but also a proper 'local' pub for the Hepworth residents. He has always worked hard to make it the focal point of village life with the philosophy of 'Keeping Things Local'. Tim has a strict policy of sourcing as many ingredients as possible from within a 75 mile radius, and many of his suppliers are very close to home. Some are even in Hepworth itself, as several villagers supply Tim with produce from their own gardens and allotments. You can't get more local than that!

The reward for all the efforts by Tim and his team has been winning a string of prestigious awards including Best Gastropub at the Great British Pub Awards, Best Use of Regional Produce on the Menu at the Deliciouslyorkshire Awards and Young Business Person of the Year in the Huddersfield Examiner Business Awards.

It's safe to say that The Butchers Arms is now definitely going places!
